Description

Do you want to work with GIS in an environment where your skills truly make a difference?

We are looking for two GIS engineers who want to contribute to the development and quality assurance of Gothenburg's outdoor environments.

The city of Gothenburg is developing rapidly, and our parks, natural areas, water environments, and facilities need strong and modern GIS support to be planned and managed sustainably. In the Department of Outdoor Environments and Urban Life, we work cross-professionally and long-term, and GIS is a central part of our work to create clear and robust decision-making bases.

We are now looking for two GIS engineers for our operations. One of the positions is aimed at those with several years of experience who want to take on greater responsibility for development and quality within the GIS field. The other position is suitable for those who are earlier in their careers but have a solid GIS foundation and want to grow in the role.

Responsibilities

As a GIS engineer with us, you will work on developing, maintaining, and quality assuring the geographic information used in our operations. You will be an important part of the work to create mapping materials, analyses, and data support used to plan and manage the city's areas and facilities.

The role includes working with both ongoing maintenance and more development-oriented tasks. You will contribute to improving our working methods and GIS solutions, participate in collaboration with the department's GIS organization, and provide support to colleagues who use geodata in their work. The work may also involve interpreting drawings, processing data, creating analyses, and developing information structures that strengthen our long-term planning.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a relevant university degree in GIS or a related field, or equivalent experience deemed comparable by the employer. You need to have good technical skills and confidence in working with QGIS or another equivalent GIS environment.

We place great emphasis on your analytical ability, your methodical work style, and your ease in translating data into clear and usable materials. You express yourself well in both speech and writing and thrive in a role where GIS is used closely with operations and in direct dialogue with colleagues.

Desirable

It is advantageous if you have experience with FME or other tools for data flows and automation. Experience with database management, such as PostgreSQL, is also valuable. Knowledge of facility information, physical geography, cultural geography, landscape-related issues, or work in public operations is seen as an asset but is not a requirement for applying.

Personal qualities

We are looking for curious, structured, and solution-oriented individuals. You enjoy working collaboratively with others but also have the ability to take responsibility for your own issues and drive them forward. You want to contribute to developing both work methods and data quality and see GIS as a tool that can shape a better, more sustainable city.

Why apply for the position with us?

With us, you will work in a context where GIS is a key function and where your knowledge has a significant impact on the operations. You will join an engaged and development-oriented department that values professionalism, collaboration, and long-term capacity building.

There is an opportunity to work with both daily tasks and more strategic development issues, and whether you are experienced or newly graduated, you will have good opportunities to grow in the role.

Conditions

With us, you will work in a department focused on development, collaboration, and diversity. We offer flexible working hours (with exceptions in certain departments), wellness benefits, and cycling benefits - to help you combine an exciting job with a sustainable private life.

As an employer, we have an obligation to ensure that you have the right to reside and work in Sweden. Therefore, at a physical interview, you will need to show your passport or national ID card. We will also check your driver's license at the interview.

Selection and interviews are ongoing, so do not wait to apply!
